Transit Spending Account (TSA)

The TSA program allows employees to set aside up to $325 (calendar year 2025) per month on a pre-tax basis to pay for public transit (e.g., buses, trains, and subways) expenses, while also providing a Transit Match of up to $100 per month. Paying with pre-tax dollars reduces the net cost from your paycheck. Transit and parking passes/tickets can, in most cases, be purchased directly through the City’s third-party service provider, WageWorks.

The TSA program is a separate program from the Transit Subsidy Reimbursement Program. Employees may not participate in the Transit Subsidy Reimbursement and the TSA program at the same time.

Enrolling in TSA and Making Changes to Existing Elections

Employees may enroll or make changes to their TSA account at any time during the calendar year via the Keeping LAwell Benefits Central Portal. You may refer to the Employee Election Calendar for information on the time period in which a payroll change will become effective. Processing of TSA and/or PSA payroll deductions may take up to two pay periods to be reflected on your paycheck depending on the date you make the change in the Benefits Central Portal and the City’s payroll schedule.

As a reminder, by enrolling into the TSA and/or PSA program, you consented to the following Terms and Conditions of the program.

After your account is funded by your paycheck deductions, you may place a parking order by creating an account online with WageWorks (HealthEquity), the City’s TSA third-party administrator.

For additional information on how to use your WageWorks account, please visit the Commuter Benefit Accounts page or call 877-924-3967. You may also find additional instructional materials via the following links:

Please note that creating a WageWorks account does not apply to employees who participate in the Transit Subsidy Reimbursement Program.
