Los Angeles Valentines Day Destinations with Metro!

Celebrate the season of love with transit! Los Angeles has plenty of fun date destinations, and luckily, Metro has your transportation covered for only $1.75 per ride. Here are a few ideas to make your Valentines Day special: 

  • Barnsdall Art Park: The park is home of the only United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage site in Los Angeles, the Hollyhock House and Museum designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for seniors to see the exhibits, but the park is free to the public to see the stunning views or have a picnic. 

    • Location: 4800 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles 

    • Transit: Take the B Line to the Vermont/Sunset, then walk about seven minutes east on Sunset Blvd. to get to Barnsdall Park.

  • Cabrillo Marine Aquarium: The aquarium is donation-based (suggested $7 for adults and $3 for children) and does not require tickets or reservations. It is home to local Southern California sea life like the white abalone, Pacific seahorse, and sunflower sea star.  

    • Location: 3720 Stephen M. White Dr., San Pedro (Los Angeles) 

    • Transit: Take the J Line to Pacific/19th and transfer to Line 246. Exit at Pacific/36th and walk southwest along Stephen M. White Dr. for about six minutes to get to the aquarium.

  • Exposition Park: Exposition Park is home to the California Science Center, the California African American Museum, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the Exposition Park Rose Garden. While the museums have admission fees, the rose garden is free and open for reading, drawing, and picnics.  

    • Location: 700 Exposition Park Dr., Los Angeles 

    • Transit: Take the E Line and exit at Expo Park/USC to get to Exposition Park. 

  • Grand Central Market and the Million Dollar Theatre: Enjoy a variety of delicious food and drinks before seeing a movie next door at the Million Dollar Theatre! 

    • Location: 317 South Broadway, Los Angeles 

    • Transit: Take the B Line or D Line to Civic Center/Grand Park to get to Grand Central Market and the Million Dollar Theatre.

  • Lake Echo Park: Lake Echo Park is a unique lush area nestled in the urban landscape of Los Angeles. It is free and open to the public for recreational use, but you can rent swan-pedal boats to explore the lake with a swan-pedal boat for a small fee.

    • Location: 751 Echo Park Ave., Los Angeles 

  • Transit: Take Line 4 and exit at Ceasar Chavez/Broadway. Then walk southwest along Echo Park Ave. for about eight minutes. Line 92 can also reach Lake Echo Park, just exit at Bellevue/Laveta.
